When deploying your packages, Tentacle automatically creates folders for the applications you install, or you can explicitly tell Octopus where you want them installed. Tentacle has a home directory where it keeps logs and other files. The wizard asks me where Tentacle should deploy applications to. You'll use this tool to configure the Tentacle later for now, since this is a new Tentacle agent, I'll need to run the getting started wizard to configure it. After the MSI installer completes, the Tentacle Manager UI appears. I'll use remote desktop to log onto the web server, and install the Tentacle MSI installer. I'm going to add a web server to my Octopus Deploy environment. In this video I'll show you how to set up a listening Tentacle. Tentacle and Octopus can communicate in two different ways - Tentacle can listen on a TCP port, or Tentacle can poll the Octopus server. Tentacle runs as a Windows Service, and we have a setup wizard to help you to install it. To remotely deploy software, Octopus uses an agent service called Tentacle.
